VALLEY CENTER, California (May 21, 2013) — A 25-year-old Valley Center man was killed late Monday afternoon when another driver pulled in front of his motorcycle and the two vehicles crashed on Valley Center Road near Morningstar Road, according to a press release issued by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Sometime before 5:15 p.m., the motorcyclist was riding southbound on Valley Center Road when a car “pulled into his path from a private roadway,” the report said. The unidentified motorcyclist crashed into the vehicle and then hit a utility pole causing serious injuries. Paramedics transported the injured man to the Palomar Medical Center Emergency Department in Escondido where he later died at 5:15 p.m., the report said. The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released, however, the report indicated he is survived by a wife.
“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable on our busy roadways due to distracted motorists, heavy traffic and their lack of protection in a collision,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Drivers who pull in front of motorcyclists are typically liable for a rider’s wrongful death or injuries due to a crash.”
