PALM SPRINGS, California – Driver Joyce Stotz, 54, of Palm Springs was ejected and killed Thursday night after losing control of her sedan and colliding with another vehicle on the northbound Gene Autry Trail about half a mile south of the Interstate 10 freeway, according to a Riverside County Sheriff Coroner report.
According to the report, Stotz drove through a patch of sand that caused her to lose control of the vehicle and drive into opposing traffic lanes where she was struck by another vehicle about 8:50 p.m.
Palm Springs Police Department officers are investigating the car accident to determine exactly how the crash happened.
