LAS VEGAS, Nevada –  A 78-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon after he allegedly pulled into the path of another vehicle on Fort Apache Road near Red Hills Road, according to an online report by KLAS-TV Las Vegas.

The driver of a yellow Volkswagen Bug convertible was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene of the three-vehicle crash about 2 p.m., according to the report. The Volkswagen reportedly pulled in front of a blue Ford Mustang with three people inside, but there were no reported injuries. A third car was struck after the initial collision and suffered minor property damage, but no injuries.

The street was closed for several hours as Las Vegas police investigated the collision. Speed and or a right of way traffic violation may be a factor in the crash, the report said.

The name of the man who was killed has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.

“Police will likely investigate this car accident to determine if speed was a factor,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “When a driver is traveling at a high rate of speed other vehicles may miscalculate their own decisions — leading to this type of crash. Should it be determined that the Ford in this case was speeding prior to the crash police may place fault on that driver for negligence.”
