SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, California – Miles Eubanks, 17, of Santa Ana was killed Sunday night after he was caught in a fiery 3-vehicle crash on the southbound 170 just north of Victory Boulevard in the Valley Glen area, according to the Orange County Register.
California Highway Patrol officers reported that the multi-vehicle crash took place about 6:30 p.m. after 2007 Jeep sports utility vehicle became disabled in the No. 1 lane and it was struck from behind by the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet. Eubanks was a passenger in the back seat of the Chevrolet.
Eubanks survived the crash and remained in the vehicle while the driver and front seat passenger got out to check if anyone was injured in the Jeep. Meanwhile, the driver of a 2013 Lexus SUV rear-ended the Chevrolet causing it to rollover and burst into flames. The teenager was trapped in the vehicle and died.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responding to the scene of the three-vehicle crash said Eubanks died at the scene, the driver of the Chevrolet and the other passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were no further details about the occupants of the other two vehicles.

“Typically it’s safest for those involved in a crash on the freeway to remain inside the car until help arrives, however, it was not the case with this crash,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Sadly this young man did the right thing and he was still a victim of a tragic crash.”
