ANAHEIM HILLS, California (Orange County) – An unidentified motorcycle rider was seriously injured in a collision between him and an SUV early Thursday morning on the westbound 91 freeway just east of Lakeview Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist crashed his yellow Suzuki bike about 5:40 a.m. and CHP issued a SigAlert for the FasTrak lanes until reopening them about 6:30 a.m. in the morning. Paramedics transported the man to a nearby trauma facility for treatment of moderate to major injuries, police said.

Orange County Motorcycle Accident law firms report there were 389 fatalities and 10,134 injuries to motorcyclists in California in 2009, the latest statistics compiled by the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic System Report.
In Orange County, there were 17 motorcyclist deaths and 735 reported injuries to motorcyclists in 2009, according to the CHP report. This includes three deaths and 145 injuries to motorcycle riders in Anaheim.
In the United States, motorcyclist injuries made a significant drop, down roughly 9% to 82,000 injuries reported in 2010 compared to 90,000 injuries the year before. Fatal accidents were slightly up, 4,502 deaths were reported in 2010 compared to 4,469 in 2009.
