Seven Injured in Beach Boulevard Crash in Buena Park
BUENA PARK – Debra Ponce, 21, of Whittier allegedly bit a police officer who was attempting to arrest her on charges of assault after she reportedly threatened a female driver with a knife following a car crash where seven people were injured including a 4-year-old boy, the Orange County Register reported.
Ponce was one of several people involved in a collision that took place about 9:20 p.m. on Monday night between a Pontiac Grand Am and a Lexus ES 300 on Beach Boulevard and Los Coyotes Drive. Ponce was reportedly traveling in the Pontiac with her 4-year-old son and five other people at the time of the crash.
Police are not sure why Ponce allegedly threatened the driver of the Lexus with a knife and assaulted her, but they said she then fled the scene of the crash. Later Ponce returned with her son and resisted arrest for the assault by police officers. She reportedly bit the police officer in the struggle to get away.
Paramedics transported the injured car accident victims including one with traumatic injuries to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to the report.
Anyone with information about the crash or the assault was asked to call Buena Park police at 714-562-3902.
