Four homeless men were injured in a DUI crash near Veteran’s Memorial Drive and Sycamore on Saturday. Anthony Coca, 58, Gary Taylor, 53, Brian Kopperman, 48, and Martin Lomas, 55, were all injured. Coca and Taylor were critically injured. Linda Lera-Randle is the Executive Director and Founder of Straight from the Streets. She states, “Just because someone is homeless…that doesn’t mean they have less a heart, less a soul, less a brain, and maybe not even less a family.” Randle says the crash will not just affect the four men, but it will hurt those who know and love them. Mark Menendo, Nevada State Senator stated that despite numerous warnings, the message to stop drinking and driving is not getting through to people. What’s worse, police stated that the DUI driver, Uziel Reyes-Perez did not even have a driver’s license at the time of the accident.
