VICTORVILLE, California – Motorcyclist Michael P. Johnson, 47, was killed early Monday morning after a Ford mini-van turned left in front of him and he lost control of his 2005 Harley Davidson on D Street, according to a press release by the Victorville Police Department.
Johnson, who is from the small nearby town of Apple Valley, was traveling westbound on D Street approaching Second Street at the time of the crash. The other driver in the van was traveling eastbound on the same street. The crash caused Johnson to be ejected from his motorcycle and he fell into the roadway. Paramedics transported Johnson to Victor Valley Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:26 a.m.
The Victorville Police Department is investigating the motorcycle accident and gathering evidence to determine exactly why the two vehicles crashed and who was at fault.

Police are required to investigate every car accident involving a fatality to determine the cause of the crash, Attorney West Seegmiller explains. The investigation will seek to find out if either driver was under the influence of alcohol, distracted or if there were any circumstances that may have led to the crash that were illegal or reckless.
“Families of these victims killed in car accidents have lost a loved one and are forever changed due to both the emotional and financial loss,” said Seegmiller. “Drivers who make fatal mistakes must be held accountable for their actions.”
