VICTORVILLE, California –  Javier Leon Chavez, 55, of Hawaiian Gardens was killed early Friday morning after being thrown from a car in a single-vehicle rollover crash on the northbound Interstate 15 freeway just south of Bear Valley Road, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department press release.

About 12:30 a.m., Chavez was a passenger traveling in a vehicle riding on Bear Valley Road when for unknown reasons the driver lost control and crashed. California Highway Patrol officers responding to the crash site confirmed he was dead at the scene. The driver suffered unknown injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The CHP is investigating what may have caused the crash.
