BONITA, California —  The driver of a dune buggy was killed Tuesday afternoon after losing control of the off-road vehicle, crashing into a fence and being ejected into nearby bushes  in the 4700 block of Butternut Hollow Lane near Winnetka Drive, California Highway Patrol and San Diego Coroner reports show.

David Sylvester Metje, 52, of Bonita, died at the scene of the off-road vehicle crash about 12 p.m. despite efforts by paramedics to resuscitate him.  The coroner’s office listed Metje as married.  There were no other people involved in the off-road vehicle accident.
