YUCAIPA, California (Feb. 12, 2013) –  A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday morning after the rider was unable to avoid a three-vehicle car crash on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway just east of Yucaipa Boulevard, according to a dispatch report issued by the California Highway Patrol.

“The rider was lying in the roadway,” the report said. “Three vehicles rear-ended each other, but the motorcycle couldn’t stop in time.”

Just after 7 a.m., paramedics responded to the scene of the multivehicle car accident and transported the injured  motorcycle rider to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of moderate to major injuries, the report said.

The crash blocked the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes and only the right side of the roadway was open to traffic. The three vehicles involved in the crash and the motorcycle were all towed from the scene of the wreck, the report said.

LUDLOW, California — Martha Madrigal, 51, of Keller, Texas was killed and four passengers injured early Saturday morning after the left, rear tire blew out on the gold 2000 Chevy Tahoe Madrigal was driving eastbound on Interstate 40 just west of Kelbaker Roadd, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department.

Madrigal lost control of the Tahoe about 1 a.m. at which point the vehicle rolled over multiple times in the center divider.  Madrigal was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:12 AM. The four injured passengers who were riding in the Tahoe were taken by paramedics to area hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

LOS ANGELES, California—A driver was who lost control of his car near Figueroa and Temple Street died Thursday after striking another vehicle and leaving five others injured, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At approximately 11:47 p.m. on Thursday, LAPD’s Central Traffic Area office received a traffic collision call near Figueroa and Temple Street. A 2000 Honda Civic drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Scion. An LAPD investigation found that the driver of the Honda lost control of the car as the road curved to the left.

The five male occupants in the Scion were taken to a near-by hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda died on the scene, according to the LAPD. Officials explain that the investigation is ongoing and the name of the deceased is currently being withheld pending notification of family members.

“The police investigation will seek to find out if the driver was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or distracted at the time of the crash,” explained Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “Also, police are seeking to find out if there are circumstances that may have led to the crash that were illegal or reckless.

PALM SPRINGS, California – Daniel Otto, 38, a veteran detective with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio, was killed Friday morning after he was ejected from the backseat of a gray 2006 Honda Accord in a rollover crash on the eastbound Interstate 10 freeway, according to news reports and a press release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner’s Department.

Otto, who lives in Columbus, Ohio, was vacationing in Southern California over Father’s Day weened with his family, according to news reports. According to California Highway Patrol officers who are investigating the crash Otto was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred. Police said the vehicle veered off the roadway about a mile east of Red Cloud Road in the Desert Center area at 8:05 a.m. and Otto died about an hour later.

Others injured in the crash included the driver, Daniel Case, 83, who reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to a medical condition, a front seat passenger, Phyllis Case, 82, both of Mesa, Arizona and a 9-year-old child from Columbus, Ohio. Paramedics transported the injured victims to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where they were treated for undisclosed injuries sustained in the crash.
