DESCANSO, California – The driver of a pickup was killed on Sunday after he smashed his truck into the back of a parked tractor trailer truck at the Japatul Valley Road off ramp leading from Interstate 8, police said.
The 40-year-old man was driving alone when he was killed instantly in the truck crash about 10 p.m. on Sunday, police said, adding that his pickup was going very fast. No one else was injured in the truck accident. According to reports by the San Diego Coroner, Edwards was divorced and lived with his son in an apartment in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego.
The truck accident is being investigated by police officials to determine whether the driver of the tractor trailer truck was legally parked on the shoulder of the road where the accident took place. The tractor trailer truck was parked off the road with its lights on when the accident occurred, police said.
