TEMECULA, California (Lake Skinner) – Pilot Carl Numi, of Corona, was killed and his passenger suffered minor injuries after a single-engine Robinson R22 helicopter crash Monday morning just west of Borel Road and southwest of Lake Skinner, according to a press release issued by Riverside County Fire Department.
There are few details about the crash reported at 10:14 a.m., however, it’s possible that the helicopter’s flight path may have originated at the French Valley Airport in Murrieta as it is about four miles away from the crash.

The United States helicopter crash rate is roughly 30 percent higher than crashes for the U.S. general aviation crash rate, according to Mike Kriebel, senior vice president of Aviation Underwriters Association
The statistics presented showed that the United States Civil helicopter accident rate was 8.09 per 100,000 hours of flying (1.48 for fatal crashes), whereas the U.S. General Aviation accident rate was approximately 6.22 per 100,000 flying hours.
