Fontana Man, 21, Killed in Crash on Valley Boulevard; Man, 20, Injured
FONTANA, California (Oct. 7, 2013) — Victor Hugo Diaz Jr., 21, of Fontana died early Monday morning after he allegedly ran through a red traffic light and struck another driver broadside at the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Citrus Avenue, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
About 3:23 a.m., Diaz was alone in his car and heading westbound on Valley Boulevard in a 2012 Kia Soul when he struck and injured the 20-year-old driver of a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck who was traveling southbound. Police say Diaz was traveling at a high rate of speed when he drove through the intersection, the report said.
Paramedics responded to the traffic accident, but Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the maroon Ford pickup truck suffered a broken collarbone, cuts and scrapes and was taken by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton to be treated by doctors, according to an article in the Press Enterprise.
The Fontana Police Department is investigating the collision.
