FULLERTON, California (Oct. 11, 2013) – A 57-year-old man was killed and five others suffered non-life threatening injuries Thursday afternoon in an 8-vehicle pileup on Harbor Boulevard and Valencia Mesa Drive near the St. Jude Medical Center, according to a report by KABC News.
Adrian Davis, 57, of Brea, was identified as the man who died in the wreck, the Orange County Sheriff Coroner said.
Davis was reportedly driving a yellow F-150 pickup truck northbound on Harbor Boulevard at a high rate of speed when for unknown reasons he suddenly veered over into southbound traffic at the intersection. He the reportedly crashed into seven other drivers who were waiting at a traffic light, the KABC report said. The impact was violent and the vehicles were piled up on top of one another with the pickup truck upside down on top of them all.
The other vehicles he crashed into included a couple of SUVs, a sportscar, a minivan and several sedans, KABC said.
Several ambulances as well as emergency workers were at the scene to help the injured including a man who is a paraplegic whose wheelchair was attached to his vehicle.
The Fullerton Police Department is investigating the fatal collision and are asking anyone with more information or who witnessed the crash to call them at (714) 738-6812.
“It is important for anyone who saw this accident to contact police to help all those involved in this accident piece together what happened,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “We may never know exactly why this accident happened, but it may help provide closure to the family of the man who died and comfort those who were hurt in this accident.”
