SAN DIEGO, California — A teenager led San Diego Police on a pursuit Tuesday morning that led to the young driver striking another car and attempting to flee and hide from police, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

The 16-year-old male driver and his passenger another 16-year-old male were both taken into custody by police, the driver was booked into Juvenile Hall, charged with suspicion of hit-and-run, evading police and a curfew violation, the report said.

Police officials said an officer tried to pull over the teenage driver of a 2002 Hyundai at around midnight but the driver sped off leading to the pursuit and the hit-and-run accident.

The driver ran several stop signs and rear ended another car during the pursuit, the report said. It is unclear if that accident resulted in any injuries.

Both suspects were apprehended about a half-hour after the start of the pursuit, police officials said.

“These teenagers were up to no good and while they are on the hook for evading police they are also responsible for damages to the other car and injuries to those who were in the other car if there were any,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “The driver and his parents need to be held responsible for negligence that could very well have resulted in the injury of innocent motorists and their passengers.”

SAN DIEGO, California – Five vehicles were involved in a traffic collision including one sports utility vehicle that overturned onto its roof on the northbound Interstate 805 freeway at the north Clairemont Mesa Boulevard off-ramp, according to a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash was apprehended by police after attempting to flee the scene of the crash, police said.

CHP issued a SigAlert following the 12:03 p.m. crash that involved a gray Saturn with a flat rear tire.

“Traffic accidents involving multiple vehicles can make filing a claim for injuries a difficult ordeal for victims who are hurt in the crash,” Attorney West Seegmiller said. “Although an insurance company may try to quickly settle a claim, it’s important to speak with an attorney to ensure you are given a fair settlement that includes compensation for future medical needs related to a traffic injury.”

Police investigate every car accident involving a death to determine the cause of a crash. The investigation typically seeks to find out if either driver was under the influence of alcohol, distracted or if there were any circumstances that may have led to the crash that were illegal or reckless.

“Families of victims killed in car accidents not only have to cope with the loss of a loved one, but the fact that an alleged drunk driver caused the accident is difficult to accept,” said Seegmiller. “Many families in this situation want to obtain justice for their loved one and make sure the drunk driver is brought to justice.”

WESTMINSTER, California – A hit and run driver is being sought after a multiple vehicle traffic accident involving roughly eight vehicles resulted in several injuries Tuesday morning on the eastbound State Route 22 freeway at Euclid Street, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

FONTANA, California – Victor Scallo, 44, of Huntington Beach was found dead on San Bernardino Avenue east of Commerce Street, a report by the San Bernardino Sheriff-Coroner Department.

California Highway Patrol officers received a 911 call reporting that the man was lying on the side of the roadway about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police are investigating the fatal pedestrian accident as a crime because the driver left the scene of the accident.

Hit and run crashes with pedestrians here in California are among the highest in the nation. Additionally, fatal pedestrian accidents are on the rise in the United States up 4.2% to 4,280 killed in 2010. “Sadly drivers who leave the scene of a serious car crash are not only criminals, but cowards,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “Not only do drivers have a moral duty to assist someone injured in a car crash, they also have a legal duty to remain on scene and call for help if someone is injured or killed.”
