DUBLIN, California (May 2, 2013) – At least person was killed after being ejected in a rollover crash involving a driver that witnesses reported was speeding at more than 80 mph prior to the crash on the westbound Interstate 580 freeway  near the West Airway Boulevard on ramp, according to a dispatch report issued by the California Highway Patrol.

About 8:15 a.m., CHP officers reported two victims were unconscious including one who was ejected in the No. 1 lane of the freeway and died after a crash between a black sports utility vehicle and a red pickup truck. The report indicates that both vehicles may have overturned in the crash.   The black SUV overturned in the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes and rolled back onto its wheels during the crash.

A driver in a small red pickup truck was reportedly reckless driving at speeds of more than 80 mph prior to the traffic accident, the CHP said.

“Indeed there are simply no words that can lift the burden of grief and sorrow this person’s family and friends are experiencing right now,” Attorney West Seegmiller said.  “The thoughts and prayers of our entire family are with them as they cope with news of the loss.”

Police closed down the roadway in order to conduct an investigation and diverted traffic on to the Portola on ramp to avoid the traffic accident, the report said.
