SUV Driver Trapped in Vehicle Under Big Rig Truck
TEMECULA, California (Jan. 17, 2014) – Jose Duran Jr., 30, of Murrieta was killed Friday morning when his SUV crashed into the back of a semi-tractor trailer truck while driving on the southbound Interstate 15 freeway at State Route 79, according to a dispatch report by the California Highway Patrol.
About 11 a.m.,Duran was driving a black Chevrolet Avalanche when he accidentally struck the back of a big rig truck in the slow lane of the 15 freeway and became wedged underneath the back of the truck. The collision was blocking the slow lane and the Winchester off ramp, CHP officials reported.
California Department of Fire Riverside responded to the truck crash with paramedics and emergency workers who had to extricate the trapped driver from the wreckage.
A SigAlert was issued for the No. 3 lane of the freeway which was closed down due to the crash.
“There is an accident report pending for this fatal crash and it will contain an analysis of the collision factors based on evidence collected by police. This report will establish fault,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “The report is typically available within 30 days. The report is very helpful not only to law enforcement, but also to family and loved ones. We extend our sympathy to the family of anyone killed in this crash as they try to piece together what happened and come to terms with such a tremendous loss.”
