PERRIS, California – A multi-vehicle car accident claimed the life of 19-year-old Ronald Cole late Wednesday night as he was driving on State Route 74 and injured his two teenaged passengers, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report and news sources.
Police say Cole was driving a silver 2004 Honda Civic about 9:05 p.m. between River Road and Mazie Avenue when he crossed over into a two-way left hand turn lane and crashed head on into a blue 2004 Honda Civic driven by Cody Testi, 23, of Riverside. Next Cole’s car spun around and was hit broadside by a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Raul Padilla, 47, of Quail Valley, police said. Padilla was not injured in the crash. Testi’s car ended up on the shoulder of the road. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the crash.
According to a report by the Cal fire/Riverside County Fire Department rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to cut open Cole’s vehicle to rescue the teenagers. Cole was transported by paramedics to Inland Valley Medical Center Location where he died at 11:36 p.m. that evening. Cole’s two passengers, Sydni Adame, 19, of Wildomar, and Josh Webb, 19, of Lake Elsinore, were transported to local hospitals with major and moderate injuries respectively, police said.
Another vehicle was damaged after hitting debris from the crash, but its driver Zina Harris, 58, of Lake Elsinore was not injured, police said.
