LAKE ELSINORE, California (April 13, 2013) — A juvenile pedestrian was injured Friday night after being struck by a truck traveling northbound on Langstaff Street near W. Pottery Street, according to a press release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner Department.

About 6:30 p.m. on April 12, Riverside County police officers and paramedics responded to the pedestrian accident within minutes of the crash. The driver told police that the pedestrian had ran between several parked vehicles into the path of the truck and he was unable to stop.

The pedestrian was thrown into the street and suffered major, non-life threatening injuries due to the impact. Paramedics transported the injured pedestrian to a regional medical center for treatment.

Police accident investigators from the Lake Elsinore Station Traffic Bureau continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the pedestrian accident. The intersection of Langstaff Street and W. Pottery Street was closed for several hours during the course of the investigation.

LAKE ELSINORE, California – Anthony Devaney, 19, of Lake Elsinore was killed Tuesday night after he was struck by an SUV while crossing Lake Street just west of Interstate 15, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner report.

According to the report, Devaney was wearing dark clothing as he walked north across the eastbound lane of Lake Street about 10:10 p.m. Also, the report indicated that he was allegedly wearing ear buds at the time the SUV struck him. The driver of the vehicle was unable to slow down quickly enough to stop by the time they saw the pedestrian in the roadway. The driver cooperated with investigators and was later released from the police station, the report said.

The roadway was closed for the investigation of the pedestrian accident, but it reopened at approximately 4:00 a.m.
