COLTON, California — Le Mason, 56, and a 13-year-old girl, both of Riverside, were killed Friday night in a head-on traffic accident on Main Street at Placentia Lane, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department and The Press Enterprise.

About 7 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2013, Mason was driving per PT Cruiser northbound on Main Street when her vehicle was struck by 29-year-old Michael Hughes in his Mercury Sable. Mason was allegedly attempting to make a left-hand turn into a business driveway at the time her vehicle was struck, the coroner report said.

According to the Press Enterprise, Hughes was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and murder charges.

Mason and her teenage passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner reported.

The Colton Police Department is investigating the incident.
