SAN FRANCISCO, California – Two toddlers were attacked by their family’s pit bull dogs this week suffering serious injuries and resulting in at least one dog being euthanized, according to news reports.
The first victim was attacked in Concord on Monday. Paramedics treated her on the scene for injuries to her face, head and leg before she was air-lifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital where she is being treated for injuries and was listed in stable condition. The toddler faces a long recovery from the vicious attack. The animal was euthanized and the body was being tested for rabies.
A second victim was attacked by a pit bull-German Shepherd mix dog about 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning in Castro Valley. Details of the attack were not known, but were reportedly worse than the Concord victim’s injuries. The child was also transported to Oakland Children’s Hospital for treatment of her wounds. The dog was being held for observation.
