In a recent article in The Las Vegas Herald- Tribune, a DUI accident involving a young girl was discussed. Justin Caramanica, 42, was under the influence of alcohol, pot, and oxycontin when he ran his car into 12-year-old trick-or-treater, Faith Love. Love died from multiple injuries. The accident occurred at 8:20 p.m., last year, on October 31, 2011 at Sandstone Bluffs Drive and Wesley Lake Place in Summerlin.

Caramanica pleaded guilty in July to DUI which caused the death of Faith Love. At a recent sentencing hearing, Judge Elissa Cadish gave Caramanica the maximum sentencing for DUI. Judge Cadish pointed out that even while Caramanica was out on bail, he drove a car against her orders and had another accident. Caramanica has two daughters of his own and apologized to Faith Love’s mother. The hearing was extremely emotional.

“If you or someone you love has been affected by a DUI, please seek out legal counsel as soon as possible. This is such a serious matter for everyone involved,” states West Seegmiller, founder of the Las Vegas Personal Injury Law Firm, The Seegmiller Law Firm.

HEMET, California — Two women were killed after a driver attempted to evade police and struck a tree in Hemet on Tuesday, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Crystal Gray, 33 a resident of Hemet and her passenger Shelby Kraft, 21 also a resident of Hemet who was seated in the rear of Gray’s sedan were both killed around 2:30 a.m. while traveling on Whittier Avenue east of State St. in Hemet.

A third woman, whose name has not been released was critically injured in the crash that caused the car to catch fire, the Press Enterprise reported.

Police officials are still investigating why the driver fled after an officer stopped the car because it matched a car that was used in four drive-by shootings, the report said.

The chase reached speeds of up to 100 mph but police tried to back off because the driver was passing through intersections too fast and the police wanted to be safe. They later found the car that had crashed into a tree on fire, the report said.

If you or a loved one have been involved in an accident it is important you seek legal help during this difficult time.

MID-CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Officers are investigating a chase and shooting involving a Ford Mustang and a police cruiser.

At around 3:15 am, a silver pickup truck shot into a Ford Mustang, striking the passenger in the car.  He was transported to an area hospital with a wound to the neck and is listed in stable condition.  The driver exited the freeway, and authorities proceeded to shut down the freeway to investigate.  As some of the officers were navigating and detouring traffic, a suspected drunk driver hit one of the police cruisers.  Officers were not located in the vehicle and weren’t injured.  The driver of the other car who collided with the police cruiser was arrested at the scene.

This shooting could have been compounded into more tragedy had the police officers still be in the vehicle.  Auto collisions occur for any number of reasons – Drunk driving, hit and run, losing control of the vehicle, and distracted driving.   Some injuries may lead to long-term ailments requiring pain medication, therapy or loss of function. You may require time off work to recover from injuries completely and those costs are not likely part of the settlement they will offer you.

For roughly 30 years, the legal experts at Seegmiller Law Firm have represented hundreds of clients who were injured in traffic accidents or have lost a loved one.

AGUANGA, CA – Ryan Nakoney, a Temecula resident, lost control of his truck in Aguanga shortly after midnight on Wednesday, August 22nd.

The one car collision, reported to the Riverside Fire Department, was located east of Sage road.  The Riverside County Coroner’s office reports that Mr.  Nakoney, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was unable to keep control of his Toyota Tacoma, and it careened downward approximately 100 feet down a hill into an embankment.    No other injuries were reported.

Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm said accidents like these can happen when drivers are driving recklessly but they can also be caused by faulty manufacturing of the vehicle, its tires or other accessories.

“You would think by now car companies would have made every vehicle they produce safe but that is far from the truth,” Seegmiller said.

Even after multiple vehicle recalls in the last couple of years manufacturers are not being as careful as they should during the manufacturing process sometimes resulting in deadly accidents like this one, Seegmiller said.

While it is tough to deal with insurance companies after a tragic accident like this one, the dedicated staff at Seegmiller Law Firm will be with you every step of the way to ensure you are able to get your life back on track.

While compensation will not bring back a loved one, nor heal the emotional wounds, it can help restart your life after such a tragic event.

CYPRESS, California — A La Mirada man was killed while driving through the intersection of Valley View Street and Cerritos Avenue in Cypress on Friday at around 1:30 p.m.

Henry Iseli Jr., 58, was involved in an accident with another vehicle; he was transported to the Los Alamitos Medical Center where he later died, according to the Orange County Sherriff-Coroner’s office.

Investigators still have not determined whether Iseli was killed as a result of the accident or if he was killed as the result of a natural cause, the coroner’s release said.

“My heart goes out to the family of the victim of this accident; while it isn’t easy dealing with such a loss, it is important families of accident victims know their rights and have someone by their side when it comes time to deal with the insurance companies,” said attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm.
