EL MONTE, California – One person was killed and two injured after a Ford Aerostar minivan rear-ended a Caltrans truck on the westbound San Gabriel Valley 10 Freeway near Peck Road early Tuesday morning, according to an article in the Los Angeles Times.
According to the article, the driver of the minivan and a dog in the vehicle died at the scene of the 4:13 a.m. crash. Additionally, two Caltrans workers inside the truck, which was being used to pick up orange traffic cones on the freeway, suffered minor to moderate injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported the injured workers to a nearby hospital for treatment of undisclosed wounds.
Traffic on the freeway was stalled as three lanes were closed during a California Highway Patrol investigation of the El Monte car accident.
