Fatal Perris Car Accident on Ramona Expressway
Firefighter Injured During Rescue
PERRIS, California (March 5, 2014) – Two people were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after sustaining major injuries following a head-on crash on the Ramona Expressway at Rider Avenue near the Perris Reservoir, but sadly one of them later died at the hospital, according to a press release by the Riverside County Fire Department.
About 4:42 p.m., Riverside firefighters and police responded to the collision involving two a red pickup truck and a silver sedan. The two victims were rescued from their vehicles and both of them were air-lifted to a nearby hospital. One of them later died at the hospital, but the name has not been released.
A third person hurt was a firefighter who suffered minor injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
“There is an accident report pending for this fatal crash and it will contain an analysis of the collision factors based on evidence collected by police. This report will establish fault,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “The report is typically available within 30 days. The report is very helpful not only to law enforcement, but also to those injured in the crash.”
