RANCHO MIRAGE, California – Joshua Terriquez, 20, of Ontario was killed, four others suffered major injuries after being ejected and two people were trapped in an early morning rollover crash Thursday on the eastbound Interstate 10 freeway just east of Bob Hope Drive, according to a CAL/FIRE Riverside County Fire Department press release.

Twenty-five fire fighters responded to the scene of the deadly solo-vehicle crash bout 1.3 miles east of Date Palm Drive involving seven victims about 7:27 a.m. today. Emergency workers rescued two people who were apparently trapped underneath the car wreck, CHP reported.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle was found in the center divider of the freeway lying on its roof in the No. 3 lane.

As police and paramedics were tending to the victims, police say traffic was backed up as only the No. 4 lane was open and vehicles were driving the wrong way on the on ramp to get around the crash scene, the CHP dispatch reported.

Also injured was a firefighter involved in the rescue who suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
