REDLANDS, California — David Gregory Smith, 52, of Redlands died Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Redlands Boulevard between New Jersey and California streets, according to a San Bernardino County Coroner report.
Paramedics responding to the scene of the pedestrian accident about 9:30 p.m. transported Smith to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died of his injuries at 10:11 p.m., the report said.
An investigation into the pedestrian accident is being conducted by the Redlands Police Department’s traffic division.
“Ultimately police will determine the cause of this pedestrian accident after they complete their investigation including whether the driver was distracted, under the influence of alcohol or drugs or if there was any roadway conditions such as poor lighting that contributed to the crash,” Attorney West Seegmiller said.
