SKY VALLEY, California –  Ivy Goodman, 28, of Sky Valley was identified today as one of two people killed Wednesday when the driver of a pickup truck made a turn in front of their motorcycle on Dillon Road at Hot Springs Road, according to a report by the Riverside County Coroner Department.

Goodman was allegedly riding on the back of a Honda motorcycle that was unable to avoid crashing into the full-sized pickup truck about 3:39 p.m.  The male driver of the motorcycle also died at the scene of the traffic accident, but has not yet been identified by the coroner.

Luis Magana, 38, of Sky Valley was driving the truck that allegedly crashed into the motorcycle as the bike was attempting to make a turn at the intersection.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the crash including Magana, his juvenile passenger and the driver of a third vehicle Timothy Holloway whose Daewoo was stopped at the intersection, Valley News reported. The juvenile was transported by ambulance to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage where he was treated for his injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash to determine whether speed was a factor.

WINCHESTER, California —  Police say the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am veered into opposing traffic early Sunday morning and struck and killed Louisa Valdovinos in a head on crash on Winchester Road south of Scott Road, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s office.

Two other vehicle occupants were critically injured in the car accident and were transported to Inland Valley Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Louisa Valdovinos, 55, of Menifee, was driving her Toyota Corolla at the time of the 3:50 a.m. crash on Winchester Road.  She was pronounced dead at the scene of the head-on car accident about 4:04 a.m., according to the report.

Responding firefighters were not able to immediately reach Valdovinos and other injured occupants until they cut away portions of the vehicle to access them, according to news reports.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the Winchester car accident to determine the cause and whether there were other factors that may have contributed to the crash. The roadway was closed for roughly three hours for the car accident investigation.

“Sadly we are all at risk of being involved in a car crash every time we driver our cars,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “While most drivers take every precaution to drive safely there can be other circumstances that intervene and cause a crash – other crashes are caused by reckless drivers who are distracted or do not abide by the rules of the road.”

Police departments always investigate car accidents involving a death or serious injuries to determine the cause of a crash, Seegmiller explains. The investigation will seek to find out if either driver was under the influence of alcohol, distracted or if there were any circumstances that may have led to the crash that were illegal or reckless.

“The families of victims killed in car accidents not only have to cope with the loss of a loved one, but later their lives may be forever changed due to the loss of income and other costs,” said Seegmiller, an attorney who handles wrongful death cases.
