DESERT HOT SPRINGS, California — Three people were injured in a rollover car crash Friday on the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 10 freeway and Palm Drive, according to a press release by CAL Fire Riverside/Riverside County Fire Department.

Riverside County fire fighters responded to the single-car crash about 7 a.m. and transported three people to a nearby hospital for treatment of undisclosed minor injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation officials said.

California Highway Patrol officers reported that the car rolled over, trapping the three victims inside until rescue workers from CAL Fire responded to the scene of the crash and quickly cut into the vehicle and rescued the victims.

Although there is still an ongoing investigation as to what caused the crash, often times single car crashes can be the result of driver impairment, distractions, mechanical failure on the vehicle or dangerous road conditions, said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm.

“Accidents such as this can be especially traumatic as victims trapped in the wrecked vehicle can be both physically and emotionally scarred,” Seegmiller said. “Passengers are often reluctant to hold a driver responsible for their injuries because they are a friend or family, but insurance premiums are paid to ensure victims of these incidents are taken care of when this happens.”

Every year thousands of people die and even more are injured as a result of car accidents. Almost half of these deaths are caused by dangerous road conditions that even the most experienced drivers may not be prepared for, a 2009 report published in the Washington Post said.

Faulty design, neglect and the absence of road signage are just some of the reasons for so many crashes on our roads today, the report said.

Some injuries may lead to long-term ailments requiring pain medication, therapy or loss of function. You may require time off work to recover from injuries completely and those costs are not likely part of the settlement they will offer you.
