PALM DESERT, California — Jon Ely, 48, of Palm Desert was killed about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night when a truck made a left-hand turn in front of his motorcycle and the two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Indian Canyon Road and Tachevah Drive, according to a Riverside County Sheriff Coroner report.
Ely was riding his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on North Indian Canyon Drive, but he was struck down when the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche turned left in front of him, according to news reports. The male driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene of the crash, but police have not released the man’s name. He suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The Palm Springs Police Department is investigating the crash to determine what happened to cause the motorcycle crash, however, initial indications confirm there was no alcohol involved.

“Families of motorcyclists killed in traffic accidents not only have to cope with the loss of a loved one, but often they want to know what happened and obtain justice if there was negligence involved,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of The Seegmiller Law Firm.
