Vanessa Marie Bravo, age 28 of Barstow Killed in San Bernardino Pedestrian Accident

SAN BERNARDINO, California (Feb. 5, 2013) — Vanessa Marie Bravo, age 28 of Barstow was struck and killed Tuesday night after she was hit by a car on the Interstate 210 Freeway at near the Waterman Avenue overpass, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department.

About 9:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the pedestrian accident and found Bravo critically injured, the report said. Paramedics transported Bravo by ambulance to St. Bernardino Medical Center where she later died of multiple trauma injuries at 10:21 p.m.

The CHP is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident to determine what exactly happened. Just prior to the pedestrian accident, there was a separate 911 call to police alerting them that a woman wearing dark clothing was running in the roadway on the I-210 near Waterman Avenue.

Girl, 12, Dies a Week After Two Others Killed in Colton Crash

COLTON, California (Jan. 25, 2013) – A 12-year-old Riverside girl died on Jan. 25, just one week after she was critically injured in a car crash that killed two others when the PT Cruiser they were traveling in was struck by driver Michael Dwayne Hughes, 29, of Moreno Valley.

The girl died at 4:42 p.m. on Friday at Riverside Community Hospital.

About 7 p.m. on Jan. 18, Allen was seated in the backseat of the vehicle driven by her friend’s grandmother, who along with her 13-year-old granddaughter also died at the scene of the crash in the 100 block of Main Street just north of Placentia La Colton in Colton.

The Colton Police Department is investigating the crash to determine what exactly happened. Hughes was arrested following the crash, but has yet to be charged with a crime, the Press Enterprise reported.

Two Killed in Head-on Morongo Valley Crash on SR 62

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, California (Jan. 28, 2013) – Two people were killed Monday afternoon in a head-on car crash on State Route 62 near Highland Road in Morongo Valley, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department.

About 3:25 p.m., a 50-year-old Anaheim Hills man was driving his BMW westbound on SR-62 when for unknown reasons his vehicle allegedly crossed into opposing traffic and struck a Toyota SUV driven by a 54-year-old Morongo Valley woman.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the head-on car accident by paramedics about 3:45 p.m., the report said. The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family members.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic collision to determine if there were other related factors that contributed to the car accident.

Melissa Bernal, 28, and Aniya Mitchell, 7, Identified as Victims Killed in Riverside Bus Stop Crash

RIVERSIDE, California –  A woman and child are killed and two others critically injured after a driver lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the bus stop where they were waiting.

Melissa Bernal, 28, of Riverside and Aniya Mitchell, 7, of Corona died Friday afternoon after the driver of a Kia sedan crashed into a bus stop at Magnolia Avenue and Tyler Street, according to a press release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner Department.

About 1:22 p.m., on Dec. 28, a 45-year-old man lost control of his Kia, struck a power pole and then drove into the pedestrians. The 30-year-old mother of the child who died at the scene was critically injured along with a 31-year-old man from Riverside who was also critically injured.

The Riverside Police Department reported that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, however, the crash is under investigation by police to determine its cause.

Tina Genereaux, 57, and Michael Fulk, 50, Killed in Chula Vista Pedestrian Crash

Tina Leigh Genereaux, 57,  and Michael Lee Fulk, 50, both of Chula Vista were killed in a pedestrian accident on 4th Avenue just south of C Street, according to a press release  issued by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office.

About 6 p.m., the two pedestrians were crossing the roadway outside of a marked intersection when a 24-year-old motorist struck them both, a San Diego Union Tribune report said. Fulk died at the scene of the crash, but Genereaux was transported to the University of California San Diego Medical Center where she died at 7:46 p.m.California Pedestrian Law

“Under California Vehicle Code Section 21950 (a) The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.

(b) This section does not relieve a pedestrian from the duty of using due care for his or her safety. No pedestrian may suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle that is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard. No pedestrian may unnecessarily stop or delay traffic while in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.

(c) The driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other action relating to the operation of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.

(d) Subdivision (b) does not relieve a driver of a vehicle from the duty of exercising due care for the safety of any pedestrian within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.”
