SAN DIEGO, California – Bicyclist Charles Raymond Gilbreth, 63, of San Diego was killed Wednesday afternoon after he was struck down by the driver of an SUV and thrown off his bicycle into a grassy berm in the 4500 block of Montezuma Road, according to a San Diego Medical Examiner’s press release.

The SUV was traveling eastbound in the same direction as Gilbreth was riding his bicycle in the bike lane when for unknown reasons the driver hit him about 2:30 p.m. Paramedics responding to the scene of the bicycle accident initiated Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), but despite their efforts Gilbreth did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene about 3:52 p.m.

San Diego Police Department officers are investigating the car accident to determine exactly how the accident was caused.

SAN DIEGO, California – The 20-year-old male driver of a 1992 Honda Accord was killed early Wednesday morning and his two teenage passengers severely injured after he lost control of the vehicle and veered off Highway 78 into a palm tree, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The passengers were both females ages 17 and 19 years old. The three victims – all residents of Vista — were transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where the driver was pronounced dead and the two teenage girls were listed as having major injuries.

The crash took place in San Marcos just after midnight and police are investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
