SAN DIEGO, California – East County High School Students Anthony Foreman, 18, and Jaylie James Campbell, 16, both of Santee, were killed after being ejected in a rollover crash on the eastbound State Route 52 just west of Convoy Street late Wednesday night, according to a San Diego County Medical Examiner’s report.

Foreman and Campbell were both backseat passengers in the speeding car as it lost control and flipped over multiple times on the freeway. The two teenagers died at the scene of the car accident before paramedics arrived.

Two other passengers in the Volkswagen Passat sustained life-threatening injuries after witnesses said the car was racing with a Volvo S40 at an estimated 100 mph or more. The group of teenagers were heading home after a beach party in La Jolla, news reports said.

The 16-year-old driver of the Volkswagen sustained moderate injuries, but two other injured passengers, a girl, 15, and a boy, 17, are clinging to life with major injuries. The three injured teenagers were transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Police tested the driver for alcohol and drugs, but the driver was not under the influence. The 18-year-old driver in the Volvo was another student and a Lakeside resident who was at the same party, but his vehicle did not crash and no one was injured. Police arrested him on suspicion of being under the influence of a substance and he was booked into San Diego County Jail, police said.
