Terry Lagorio, 62, of La Quinta died Friday after being involved in a series of collisions within a quarter mile of one another while driving his Toyota pickup truck in the Palm Desert Country Club vicinity, according to a Riverside County Sheriff Coroner press release.

According to the reports, Mr. Lagorio first struck a 51-year-old female jogger from behind as she was running on California Drive just west of Tennessee Avenue just after 6 a.m. Lagorio kept driving after striking the jogger and swerved off the roadway into the landscaping of a private residence, the report said.  He continued to drive toward Tennessee and Kentucky avenues where he struck a parked vehicle and then collided into another residence. Palm Desert Sheriff’s Department officers responded to the crash about 6:40 p.m.

Paramedics transported Mr. Lagorio to Eisenhower Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time after. The female jogger was also transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in the initial crash with Lagorio’s truck.

There were no other injuries reported, however, there was some moderate structural damage to the exterior of the residence struck by Lagorio’s truck as well as loss of utility services. The roadway was closed for roughly three hours while police conducted an investigation into the car accident.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and have requested that anyone with further information regarding these collisions are asked to contact Officer Benson at the Palm Desert Police Department. (760) 836-1600.
