CAMARILLO, California – Motorcyclist Mike Masculine, 61, of Camarillo was struck and killed Friday afternoon when the driver of a Ford F-250 made a left turn in front of him at the intersection of Los Pueblos Drive and Santa Rosa Road, according to a press release issued by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, Michael Patrick Fry, 39, of Yorba Linda was driving his 1992 Ford F-250 southbound on Santa Rosa road approaching the intersection of Los Pueblos Drive and made a left-turn onto Los Pueblos Drive. As he made the turn, Masculine, who was driving his 1998 Honda ST1110 motorcycle northbound on Santa Rosa road smashed into the pick-up truck as it drove past the intersection.

Masculine died at the scene of the crash about 3:30 p.m. Camarillo Police Department officers are investigating the crash to determine exactly what happened. Witnesses are asked to contact the department at 805-388-5100.

Camarillo Motorcycle Accident Statistics

According to the California Statewide Integrated Traffic Report, there were five deaths including one motorcyclist in Camarillo and 328 injuries including 13 to motorcyclists in 2009.

There were 389 fatalities and 10,134 injuries to motorcyclists in California in 2009, the latest statistics compiled by the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic System Report.

In the United States, motorcyclist injuries made a significant drop, down roughly 9% to 82,000 injuries reported in 2010 compared to 90,000 injuries the year before. Fatal accidents were slightly up, 4,502 deaths were reported in 2010 compared to 4,469 in 2009.

THOUSAND OAKS, California – Driver Floriene Hamel was struck and killed Monday by the driver of a Ford Expedition after making a left-hand turn in front of the car on Lynn Road, according to a report by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Hamel, 90, of Newbury Park, was driving her 1998 Nissan Altima southbound on Ventu Park Road prior to making the turn in front of the 2000 Ford Expedition. The driver of the Ford, Wendi Elene Tovey, 43, of Newbury Park, was carrying seven passengers. The passengers were all nine-year-old boys she was bringing home from an event in Simi Valley. There were no significant injuries to Tovey or the children.

Hamel was transported to Los Robles Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.    here were no significant injuries to any of the children.  The collision is currently under investigation.
