Indeed, those who lose a loved one in a tragic crash such as this will need time to emotionally heal as they cope with such tremendous loss. However, eventually the family may need financial help, especially if survivors include children of the victim.

“The survivors including parents or children of victims of car crashes can sue the driver who is liable for wrongful death, even if that driver is a relative,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “When a car accident takes away a father from his child, the at-fault driver’s insurance company should be held accountable to provide for the child’s support and care through a settlement after the crash.”

Studies have shown that victims who are represented by an attorney typically get 3.5 times as much compensation than if they negotiate directly with the insurance company.
