VICTORVILLE, California — Andrew Joseph Brown, 47, was struck and killed early Monday morning after a 22-year-old driver ran a red light and broadsided his 1993 Buick in the intersection of Bear Valley Drive and Industrial Boulevard, according to police and coroner reports
The fatal car crash took place in the early morning about 1 a.m. on Monday. Mr. Brown, a resident of Apple Valley, was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto the eastbound Bear Valley Drive when the driver of a 2003 Saturn station wagon drove through a red light and into his vehicle, according to a press release posted by the Victorville Police Department.
While paramedics responding to the scene were pronouncing Mr. Brown dead at 1:10 a.m., police say his male passenger fled for unknown reasons before deputies arrived.
The 22-year-old Lucerne Valley man who drove the vehicle that killed Mr. Brown was also injured in the car accident and was transported by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The Victorville Police Department Major Investigation Team is investigating the accident. It is not yet known if alcohol was a contributing factor in this collision.
