SANTA ANA, California – A 6-year-old boy was seriously injured Sunday night after he was reportedly pinned against a block wall by a driver pulling into his car into a driveway in the 1200 block of West Highland Street near Shelton Street, according to a story in the Orange County Register.

According to the article, the male driver in his 30s was pulling into the driveway about 7:30 p.m. when the boy allegedly ran in front of the vehicle and was struck. However, the driver told police he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. The boy was pinned against the wall causing severe trauma to his stomach. Paramedics transported the boy to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and remained hospitalized the following day.

The initial investigation revealed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
