FONTANA, California – Two drivers were killed early Wednesday morning in a head-on crash after one vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes of Foothill Boulevard and struck the other car, according to a San Bernardino County Coroner report.
Rhonda Martinson, 42, of Fontana was driving her 1989 Toyota Corolla when she was struck by a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Anthony Allen, 20, of Corona about 2 a.m.
Allen was driving his car westbound on Foothill Boulevard just west of Almeria Avenue when for unknown reasons he crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck Martinson’s car head on, the report said. Martinson was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident, but Allen was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died a few hours later at 5:23 a.m.
The Fontana Police Department is investigating the car accident to determine why it happened.

There were nine people killed and 498 injured in car accidents in the city of Fontana, according to the California Statewide Integrated Traffic Report. Additionally, there were 223 people killed and 7,870 injured in crashes in San Bernardino County, the report said.
