SAN DIEGO, California – The 20-year-old male driver of a 1992 Honda Accord was killed early Wednesday morning and his two teenage passengers severely injured after he lost control of the vehicle and veered off Highway 78 into a palm tree, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The passengers were both females ages 17 and 19 years old. The three victims – all residents of Vista — were transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where the driver was pronounced dead and the two teenage girls were listed as having major injuries.
The crash took place in San Marcos just after midnight and police are investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
“Our condolences to the families of this young man and our prayers go out to the families of the teenagers who are fighting for their lives in hospital,” said San Diego County Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm.
