EL CAJON, California (Dec. 21, 2011) — A 17-year-old skateboarder was struck and killed by a vehicle as he rode his skateboard on Jamacha Road, El Cajon Police Department officials report.
Matthew Parish, 17, of Lakeside, was reportedly riding his skateboard in the 1200 block of Jamacha Road at the time of the pedestrian car accident. The boy was struck by the 20-year-old driver of a Nissan Sentra who reported that he didn’t see Parish who was dressed in dark clothing on the dark street.
Both the driver and a passerby stopped to assist Parish, but he died at the scene of blunt force head injury, according to a report by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. Reports indicated that Parish was not wearing any protective gear or a helmet.
