Woman, Child Injured in Huntington Beach Car Accident on Bolsa Avenue

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – At least two people were injured Thursday morning after a two-car crash on Bolsa Avenue at Edwards Street, according to new reports.

The female driver of a silver, Chevrolet Aveo, and a little girl who was in the backseat of her father’s black Chevrolet Silverado, were both injured in the crash. Paramedics transported them both by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

It is not clear what caused the 9:30 a.m. Huntington Beach crash, but police remained at the scene to investigate the circumstances that lead to the collision.

“Police investigate car accidents to determine who is at fault and liable for damages and injuries sustained victims,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “Many car accident injuries are minor and heal quickly, but some injuries such as back pain can last for years or can be permanent. Medical treatment should be sought immediately after a crash.”

There were 141 deaths and 13,373 injuries recorded in Orange County traffic accidents in 2009, according to the California Statewide Integrated Traffic report. In California, fatal traffic accidents were down 12% to 2,715 deaths in 2010 compared to 3,090 killed in 2009, according to statistics compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Additionally, national statistics show that traffic fatalities have declined in recent years across the United States, down roughly 3% to 32,885 deaths in 2010 compared to 33,883 killed in 2009.

For roughly 30 years, the legal experts at Seegmiller Law Firm have represented hundreds of clients who were injured in traffic accidents or have lost a loved one.

If you are injured the insurance company may try to settle your claim quickly, but ask yourself if you believe they have your best interests in mind. Some injuries may lead to long-term ailments requiring pain medication, therapy or loss of function. You may require time off work to recover from injuries completely and those costs are not likely part of the settlement they will offer you. Representatives at the insurance company want you to settle for the lowest amount possible so they can close the case.

There is no cost to speak to our experienced legal professionals about your accident until we have won your case. Finding the best car accident attorney can mean you will get the settlement you need to get your life back on track. Compensation for your injuries, loss of wages and pain and suffering can’t take away the trauma of the accident, but it can help you rebuild your life.

Duy Nguyen, 24, Dead, Lori Clinton, 47, Injured in Head-On Newport Coast Car Accident

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

NEWPORT COAST, California – Duy Nguyen, 24, of Santa Ana was killed and Lori Clinton, 47, of Laguna Beach was seriously injured Wednesday night after a violent head-on collision between the two drivers on Coast Highway near El Morrow State Park, according to a press release issued by the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner Department.

Paramedics pronounced Nguyen dead at the scene of the crash about 7:30 p.m., but the Clinton was rushed to a nearby hospital with major injuries, according to the coroner and news reports. Clinton was taken by ambulance to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.

Nguyen, who was driving a red 2005 Honda S2000, was allegedly speeding as he drove northbound on Coast Highway before he veered over the median into opposing traffic and crashed into Clinton’s black 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

“Police will conduct a complete investigation of this crash to determine liability,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “Typically, in these head-on crashes, the driver who veers onto the wrong side of the roadway is liable for injuries caused to his passengers, other drivers or pedestrians.”

Barbara Major, 73, Dead Following Tustin Crash, 3 Injured

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

TUSTIN, California – Barbara Major, 73, of Santa Ana died Wednesday afternoon a day after her car was involved in a five-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon at Irvine Boulevard at Prospect Avenue, according to a press release issued by the Orange County Coroner Department.

Paramedics transported Major to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment of injuries sustained in the 12:50 p.m. crash, but she died a few hours later at 4 p.m. Three other people who suffered minor injuries in the multi-vehicle Tustin crash were also taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to news reports.

Major allegedly was driving about 50 to 60 mph when she crashed her red Ford Mustang into a row of vehicles waiting at a stop light at the intersection, news reports indicated.

“Police will conduct a complete investigation of this Tustin car accident to determine why Barbara Major failed to yield for the stop sign,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “The goal is to determine if there were other factors contributing to the crash to find out who was liable for the injuries or a possible wrongful death case.”

Leesa Lyon Attacked by 3 Pit Bull Dogs in Riverside Apartment Complex on Pierce Street

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

RIVERSIDE, California – Leesa Lyon was attacked by three loose dogs while protecting her teenage daughter late Monday night (May 15) in the 3900 block of Pierce Street inside the Corona Pointe Apartments complex, according to a press release by the Riverside County Community Health Agency’s Department of Animal Services.

According to the press release, Lyon told her daughter to run to their car while she distracted the dogs and then later drove herself to a nearby hospital where she was treated for bite injuries to her upper right thigh and lower buttocks.

The 10:20 p.m. attack by dogs described as pit bull mixes were allegedly owned by a resident who resides at the complex. Riverside Police Department and Riverside County Animal Services responded to the scene of the dog attack to make a report.

The dogs, all unaltered female pit bulls, were all rounded up and subsequently impounded at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley at 6851 Van Buren Blvd.. The dogs are being held for a 10-day quarantine period. The owner may face a dangerous dog hearing to determine consequences to them and the animals.

Lyon and her daughter had just returned home from a school awards celebration at La Sierra High and were walking home to their apartment when they were approached by the dogs.

Under California Civil Code Section 3342, the dog owner in this situation may be held accountable for the actions of the dog.

“The owner of these vicious dogs should be held liable for this woman’s injuries,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “It is illegal to allow dogs to run loose and owners are strictly liable for damage or injuries caused to others by these animals.”

Seegmiller, a Riverside Dog Bite Attorney who has handled dozens of lawsuits involving victims of dog attacks, says the owners of the apartment complex may also be liable for the injuries sustained by this woman.

Roughly 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs every year and one in five dog bite injuries are serious enough to require some sort of medical attention, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Three Injured in Head-On Riverside Car Accident on El Sobrante Road

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

RIVERSIDE, California – Three people were trapped and  injured, two in critical condition following a 3-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on El Sobrante Road at Vista Del Lago Drive, according to a CAL/FIRE Riverside County Fire Department press release.

About 7:03 a.m., three vehicles including a Smart Car, a gray Fiat 500 and a Kia sedan collided in a head-on crash that involved major injuries and fire fighters had to cut and rescue some of the people, the report said.

“Police investigate every car accident involving a death to determine the cause of a crash in order to find out who is liable to the other party for damages,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “The investigation will seek to find out if either driver was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or distracted. Also, police are seeking to find out if there are circumstances that may have led to the crash that were illegal or reckless.”

Families of victims killed in car accidents not only have to cope with the loss of a loved one, but later their lives may be forever changed due to the loss of income and other costs, Seegmiller said.

“We all pay to have insurance to cover us in case there is an accident because the victims will need money for their medical needs and so many other financial losses,” Seegmiller said.
