TRABUCO CANYON, California — Two men were critically injured in a crash Saturday morning between one man’s bicycle and the other’s motorcycle on Santiago Canyon Road, according to several news reports.
About 11:30 a.m., a 50-year-old bicyclist was riding behind his 13-year-old son about a mile north of Cook’s Corner when for unknown reasons the two vehicles collided sending both men into the roadway, the reports said. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
The motorcyclist, a single father who was on his way to work at the time of the crash, was taken by paramedics to Mission Hospital with severe injuries. One report indicated he was in a coma with multiple injuries including road rash.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s major accident reconstruction team was called to investigate the collision.
“Cook’s Corner is a popular spot for both bicycle and motorcycle enthusiasts, but it’s also a deadly location for many traffic accidents,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “The families of these two injured riders should hire a personal injury attorney to investigate the cause of this crash and determine liability.”
As a motorcyclist, Seegmiiller knows first-hand how painful a crash can be as he went through one himself and underwent painful medical treatment to remove road rash from his arms he got from skidding across the pavement.
“The experience was extremely painful and one I never forgot,” said Seegmiller, who is now an advocate for victims of traffic accidents who often are under compensated by insurance companies that want to quickly settle their cases.
