LOS ANGELES, California –Motorcyclist Eddie Moore Jr, 38, was killed Wednesday afternoon when the driver of a 1999 Toyota Camry made a left-hand turn in front of his bike at the intersection of Yolanda Avenue and Ingomar Street in the West Valley, according to a press release issued by the Los Angeles Police Department.
About 3:35 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2012, Moore was riding his 2007 Yamaha R1 motorcycle northbound on Yolanda Avenue at what police say was a high rate of speed. The driver in the Toyota was traveling southbound on Yolanda Avenue and in the process of making a left-hand turn when Moor struck the right, rear portion of the vehicle. Moor was ejected from his motorcycle during the impact and landed about 60 feet north of the intersection while his bike skidded out of control for more than a block before it came to rest, the report said.
Paramedics transported Moor by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of numerous injuries sustained in the crash, but he later died at the medical facility, the report said. The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the crash.
“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to injury on our busy roadways especially when drivers make left-hand turns in front of them as it’s difficult to stop quickly,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm. “As a rider myself who has been injured in a motorcycle accident I know all the dangerous moves drivers make that can injure or kill a rider in Southern California.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the motorcycle accident is being asked to contact Detective Stephanie Krajchir, Serial No. 26481, Valley Traffic Division Detectives, at 818-644-8034.
