Cadavers May Be Present at The Key Largo Fire Site

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 30, 2013) – There may be deceased bodies present in the rubble of the Key Largo fire site from Thursday. Firefighters have employed cadaver dogs to the site, and there have been alerts made by the dogs that there might be dead bodies in the vicinity. However, Clark County fire officials are making it clear that sometimes cadaver dogs are wrong. Regardless, heavy equipment is being sent out to uncover possible bodies from the rubble where the dogs have picked up a trace scent. More information will be available as the investigation continues.

“Hopefully the dogs are wrong, especially considering this was an unused vacant building. Unfortunately squatting is a problem in many of Las Vegas’ empty buildings,” states West Seegmiller, founder of The Seegmiller Law Firm.

MESQUITE, Nevada (March 30, 2013) – The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting that five people from California were killed in a rollover crash that occurred early this morning. The accident happened about 3:00 a.m. on the I-15 south at mile marker 100 around Mesquite.

Those killed were identified as Genaro Fernandez, 41, Raudel Fernandez-Avila, 49, Belen Fernandez, 53, Angela Sandoval, 13, Leonardo Fernandez-Avila, 45, all from Baldwin Park in California.

A Chevrolet van rear-ended a Dodge Durango SUV and the impact caused both vehicles to roll over. Five of the seven people in the Astrovan were killed in the two-vehicle crash. The other two people in the Astrovan were injured and taken to UMC in critical condition. The only two people to survive from the Dodge Durango were transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Potholes on the On/Off Ramp of the 215 Annoy Motorists

Friday, March 29th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 29, 2013) – Annoyed Las Vegas motorists are complaining about numerous potholes from a landscaping project that was finished in 2012. The landscaping job was on a beltway and cost about $976,000 to complete. The federal project was also supplemented with funds from Clark County. The problem is that the money can only be used towards landscaping and aesthetic features, and can’t be used for paving projects. However, paving repairs will be done as part of rehabilitation pavement package sometime in 2014. This will address the problems along the on/off ramps of 215 in the south valley as well as the 215 and eastern ramps.

“Potholes are annoying and cause accidents when people swerve to miss them. They are a public hazard,” states West Seegmiller, founder of The Seegmiller

Herbie Goforth Death Stirs Controversy over NV Energy Being Fined $43,000

Friday, March 29th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 29, 2013) – NV Energy was fined $43,000 after 29-year-old Herbie Goforth fell 75 feet from a ladder onto a 500 kilovolt transmission line. According to an OSHA press release, the temporary, horizontal ladder was used as a platform between a transmission tower and at the transmission line. Goforth was an expertly trained worker and was dressed in special gear that provides protection from electromagnetic field shocks. NV Energy failed to protect these workers from falling, according to the director of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). NV Energy has already received six violations from OSHA, including failure to provide fall-proof equipment for employees and failing to ensure employees wore sufficient protective gear.

“It doesn’t matter how much protective gear a worker is wearing if they have no safety gear to prevent them from falling 75 feet downward onto a 500 kilovolt transmission line,” states West Seegmiller, founder of The Seegmiller Law Firm.
