LAS VEGAS, Nevada (June 30, 2013) – A “Ka” performer, Sarah Guyard-Guillot, was killed Saturday night after she fell over 50 feet to her death during a performance at the MGM Grand, according to an article in the Las Vegas Sun. She was suspended by a wire and somehow slipped out of her safety harness, plunging over 50 feet to her death, the Sun reported.
Guillot, a mother of two, ages 8 and 5, fell from the MGM grand Stage Saturday night. The 31-year-old professional acrobat was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m. at The University Medical Center, according to The Clark County Coroner’s Office.
After Guillot’s fall, some members in the audience could hear the commotion and the show was promptly closed and tickets were refunded. The “Ka” show remains closed indefinitely.
The formal cause of her death has not yet been made known. Guillot was born in Paris and graduated from the Annie Fratellini Art and Circus Academy. Guillot worked as a professional acrobat and performer for over 22 years. She had been a member of the “Ka” show since being hired on in 2004.
This is the second Cirque show on the strip in the last week that was cancelled due to an injury of one of its performers.
