LOS ANGELES: Three-Vehicle Injury Accident Shuts Down Three Lanes of Southbound I-405 Freeway

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

LOS ANGELES, California (July 31, 2013) — There was a three-vehicle traffic collision that resulted in several injuries, and closed down three lanes of the southbound side of Interstate 405 at Wilshire Boulevard, early Wednesday morning, according to a dispatch report filed by the California Highway Patrol.

Just after 5:15 a.m., CHP officers responded to several 911 calls informing them of the accident that blocked the carpool (HOV) and three other lanes for about an hour.

Emergency officials arrived on scene, and paramedics transported at least two people to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

“Most drivers carry car insurance not only because it is required under California law, but also because they want anyone who is hurt to be taken care of in the event of an unexpected crash,” said Attorney West Seegmiller.

Los Angeles Car Accident Statistics

There were 530 people killed and 50,153 injured in Los Angeles County car accidents in 2010, according to the most recent statistics compiled by the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Report.

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

SAN DIEGO, California (July 31, 2013) — Yuriko Martha Mendoza, 9, of Santa Ana was killed and two other children and an adult were injured Tuesday afternoon in a violent car crash on the northbound State Route 805, just south of Murray Ridge Road in Serra Mesa, according to a press release issued by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office.

About 2:55 p.m., Mendoza was traveling in the back of a family friend’s blue Ford Windstar minivan on the 805 when another driver in a full-sized pickup truck crashed into the back of the vehicle.  Paramedics responding to the scene of the crash used the Jaws of Life to remove the roof of the minivan to rescue the children.
