SUV Hit by Driver with Flat Tire on Interstate 405 Freeway
SANTA MONICA, California (Dec. 31, 2013) – At least one person was injured Tuesday afternoon after two drivers collided on the northbound Interstate 405 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 1:53 p.m., CHP officers responded to the crash involving a white Mitsubishi sedan and a black SUV. Police say the Mitsubishi had a flat tire blow out and the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the SUV. The crash was blocking the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the freeway. Two other vehicles may have been involved in the car accident and one vehicle was reportedly on fire after the crash.
Los Angeles Fire Department emergency workers responded to the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash to determine liability.
