ESCONDIDO: Wahaha Child Care Provider Throws Metal Chair at Six-Year-Old Girl, Child Care Center is Shut Down Promptly

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

ESCONDIDO: (September 17, 2013)- The owner of the Wahaha Child Care Center in Escodido named Xiao Yan Hu, allegedly threw a metal chair at a six-year-old girl named Imani Shannon, whom was  in her care. An investigation by The California Department of Social Services found truth to the allegations after the small girl suffered bruises and scars to her face and cheeks.

According to the CDSS report, it was found that on in August the incident occurred based on interviews of staff and other children. The Wahaha Center was ordered to shut its doors immediately because of the posed risk to the health and safety of the daycare children. The mother of the injured little girl, Keilana Shannon,  was furious when Hu attempted to silence her child by buying her a bag of 80 Tootsie Roll Pops and then allegedly asked the little girl not to tell her mother about the incident. The girl’s mother feels her little girl was targeted.

“This is a clear case of child abuse, as stated in the CDSS report. It is unfortunate that this happened to such a small child who will need help in processing what happened. Clearly, Ms. Shannon needs to seek legal representation right away,” states attorney West Seegmiller, owner of The Seegmiller Law Firm in San Diego and Newport Beach.

CHULA VISTA: South Bay Apartment Fire Leaves One Woman Dead, Four Others Injured

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA: (September 11, 2013) – An apartment fire occurred in South Bay today that left one woman dead and injured four others, according to 10 News. The fire began for reasons still unknown. According to Deputy Fire Chief Justin Gipson, the fire erupted at about 10 a.m. on the first floor of an apartment complex located at the 500 block of Park Way in Chula Vista, California.

One man inside the apartment was able to escape the flames but his wife was unable to get out and died from her injuries. Four other people sustained minor burns. Deputy Gipson reported that fire and medical personnel will spend the entire day at the scene.

“Obviously the investigation of this incident is not complete. But there must be some sort of liability on part of the apartment complex. What about smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, readily available fire exits? If these things were all in place and functioning properly, a fire such as this may not have taken a life and injured people,” states personal injury attorney West Seegmiller.
