SOUTH LOS ANGELES, California (Oct. 23, 2013) — A 15-year-old boy was mauled on his face and neck by his neighbor’s three pit bull dogs in the 5000 block of 4th Avenue, according to a report by NBC News.
Isaiah Robertson was inside the neighbor’s fenced backyard cleaning up after the dogs he had known since they were puppies when the dogs turned on him. His grandmother heard him screaming and came to his rescue as well as his mother and several neighbors who helped to fend off the animals with a baseball bat.
One of the dogs was stabbed to get them to back off from the boy and his rescuers.
The teenager was taken to hospital after the dog bite attack and received stitches and was home on Tuesday afternoon, but so were the dogs. Los Angeles Animal Services returned all three pit bull dogs home to their owner.
There will be an investigation into whether the dogs should be permanently removed from the home or put down, but no actions were taken at this time because the attack took place on private property.
“Pit bull dogs are especially dangerous because once they attack they are difficult to stop,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “The dog’s owners may be held liable for this young man’s injuries and medical costs.”
